Assassin’s Creed Rogue brings eye-tracking to the big time

Assassin's Creed

Last-gen's surprisingly good Assassin’s Creed Rogue is coming to PC in March, and it'll let you use eye-tracking to look around the world with your head rather than a controller. As for the eye-tracking feature,

Assassin's Creed Rogue is billed as the first AAA title to make use of the technology in actual gameplay. According to Tobii Tech, when a player looks to the left of the screen, the game's protagonist, Shay Patrick Cormac, will also look left in the game environment. The camera will continue to pan left until the player's eyes focus on another point on the screen. Tobii Tech calls this process an "infinite screen" experience.

When is somebody going to make a tennis umpire sports sim? Surely that what the eye tracking cam was made for.

This technology needs a few more decades in the cooker and probably never at the range they're trying to use. I suspect this technology WILL find use in the next gen Oculus/HoloLens/Google Glass-scale device
